Team Hourigan

We are just as passionate about giving back to the community as we are about delivering exceptional buildings. The Hourigan team participates in and sponsors a variety of programs and events, while also enjoying company-wide gatherings and outings.

  • The Hampton Roads office removed 5 tons of waste from London Bridge Industrial for Clean the Bay Day. This event is the perfect opportunity for us to help sustain our environment and support our local community!

  • Our team attended DC on the Half Shell, which celebrated the Chesapeake Bay, CBF’s 50th Anniversary, and honored Marriott International for their leadership in sustainability and conservation.

  • Hourigan was a major sponsor of this year’s ForKids 16th Annual Art Auction. Over 600 attendees donned their best formal attire, or dressed as their favorite storybook characters with the same goal in mind – ending children’s homelessness in Hampton Roads.

Clean the Bay Day – Central Virginia

Central Virginia office employees and their families help positively impact the Richmond community by participating in this year’s Clean the Bay day.  The group worked hard to beautify a site located at James River Park.

Celebrating Projects

The Central Virginia office celebrated the successful completion of several projects with an evening at Greenleaf’s Pool Room!

Shuffleboard Madness Tournament

This year’s Shuffleboard Madness Tournament is off to a fast start and will culminate in a Championship bout between the Central Virginia Office Winner and the Hampton Roads Office winner!

Members of the Stone Brewing project team attended the ENR Mid-Atlantic Regional Best Project Awards Ceremony, where the Richmond facility was awarded Manufacturing Best Project.

Everyone was in the holiday spirit and dressed to impress at our annual Holiday Party at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg!

Grindstone 100

Ryan Nebel recently completed the Grindstone 100, a 101.85 mile race with 23,000 feet of elevation gain that is billed as “the hardest 100 miler east of the 100th meridian.”

Flying Squirrels Baseball Game

Team members from the Richmond office enjoyed a night at the ballpark watching Flying Squirrels Baseball.

Escape Room RVA

Before leaving for the summer, the Hourigan interns were gathered for one last adventure – Escape Room RVA.

Busch Gardens Day

Members of the team from both offices recently met up for a fun day at Busch Gardens. Team members, along with their families, spent the (very HOT) day enjoying the park, riding the rides, and eating great food!

Clean the Bay Day 2016

Our VB office braved the 90 degree heat, humidity, and giant mosquitos in order to participate in Clean the Bay Day 2016.  Although we didn’t come across a lot of trash to pick up, we did encounter a snake, a tree frog, and very friendly raccoon!

CHKD Cornhole Tournament

Tyler Park (Assistant Project Manager) and Chris Gorri from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation represented Team Hourigan in the 5th Annual “Bad to the Boards” cornhole tournament that benefitted CHKD.

RVA Team Volunteers at FeedMore

Hourigan employees from the Richmond office volunteered at the Central Virginia Foodbank Distribution Center for FeedMore, the region’s core hunger-relief organization. Volunteering brought the team closer together and closer to the community.

 

Ryan Completes Boston Marathon

Ryan Nebel and his wife celebrated at Fenway Park after Ryan completed the Boston Marathon. It was a tough run, with headwinds the whole way, but he made it up to 75 at the start and completed the race with an official time of 3:21:49.

Hourigan Hooligans Support The Doorways Via Paintball

On Saturday, April 16, 2016, the Hourigan Hooligans put forth a valiant effort at the Splatter That Matters Paintball Tournament in support of The Doorways, an organization that provides support and temporary lodging for those with loved ones undergoing medical treatment nearby.

1st Annual Shuffleboard Madness Tournament

To accompany the March Madness basketball tournament, our Richmond office organized the 1st Annual ShuffleBoard Madness Tournament to determine an office shuffleboard champion. After weeks of intense competition, Matt Sevinsky, Special Projects Group Estimator, was able to secure a championship win against D.C. Gum, Director of Safety.

“Office of the Future” Open House

Team Hourigan unveiled its new office space during an Open House in February. The event was a huge success, and even included a “scavenger hunt” so visiting guests could explore the space.

2015 UCI Road World Championships

Hourigan Construction is a founding corporate partner and the official construction partner of the Richmond 2015 UCI Road World Championships. Many Hourigan employees are also volunteering their time in various positions throughout the duration of the race.

CBF Contractor Appreciation Open House

On Saturday, June 20th, the Brock Environmental Center hosted a Contractor Appreciation Open House. Hourigan employees, as well as subcontractors, and their families were invited to the Brock Center for a BBQ, tours of the new facility, and boat and/or canoe trips.

Clean the Bay Day 2015

On Saturday, June 6th, approximately 20 of Hourigan’s employees and their families participated in Clean the Bay Day, an annual event sponsored by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The participants descended upon First Landing State Park, removing trash and debris from the pristine trails and waterways. Hourigan is – Supporting Success. One Shore at a Time!

CBF Living Building Challenge Measurement

Our Living Building Challenge Task Force has begun preparing the documentation for Living Building Challenge certification for the Brock Environmental Center. The Center will aim to achieve certification of all 7 Petals and 22 imperatives of the Living Building Challenge. The measurement period will begin January 5, 2015.

VT Students Develop Software for Brock Environmental Center

Students and faculty from Virginia Tech’s School of Construction developed software for the turnover and measurement period for the Brock Environmental Center.

USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships

A team of employees volunteered at the collegiate bike race that took place in Richmond, VA, in preparation of the 2015 UCI Road World Championships.
