“For SYNCON, the Mentor Protégé Partnership has accelerated our ability and capacity to do complex projects that we normally wouldn’t be able to undertake. It’s like having a university at our fingertips with access to 30 years of experience available 24 hours a day.”
~ Mark Lilly, President
A strong diversity program is about more than just hitting a number. It’s about finding ways to educate, advise and even help lead a client’s diversity program initiatives, while strengthening communities and creating positive change in the industry.
At Hourigan Construction, we believe in paying forward the experience and best practices we have acquired to benefit emerging leaders in the industry. In 2013 we entered into an SBA-approved Mentor Protégé Partnership with SYNCON, a Small Business Administration-certified 8(a) business and verified Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). Through training, mentoring and close collaboration, we are able to develop both the leadership and business acumen that will enable Syncon to grow and succeed. The insights and expertise that they bring to the table also serve to make Hourigan a better partner.
We are proud supporters of many organizations that further diversity in the construction industry, including such organizations as:
- Central Virginia Business and Construction Association
- Metropolitan Business League
- Office of Minority Business Development, City of Richmond
- Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce
- Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise
- Virginia Minority Supplier Diversity Council (VMSDC)
